Last week we had some leftover ginger from homemade BBQ sauce and Slip made me some Pineapple Ginger Fried Rice! It was absolutely delish. He followed the recipe found here, from Epicurious. A few differences— we have an amazing rice maker, so he made some brown rice, to start. He also added some red bell peppers to the mix, along with some diced chicken he marinaded in teriyaki, salt and pepper, and sauteed.
For now, all my kitchen tools are packed up and we’re almost ready to move into our new apartment tomorrow morning (ahh!!) I’ve been stressed the entire weekend that people have been helping us move and I haven’t been able to cook for them, but we ordered some pizza last night from Mamma Mia (15th and Spruce- yummy!). We’ll be unpacked in the new kitchen in no time, and I can’t wait!

Decoration Station

We are moving in 4 days and even though I have so much to pack and clean up over here at the old apartment, I am spending a ton of time thinking about how I am going to decorate and live in the new apartment. Decorating has never really been my forte, and I have a difficult time pulling a room together, so I’ve been spending a lot of time planning this go-round.

Luckily I just discovered the blog Design Sponge, which includes this post, entirely dedicated to living (and eating) in Philly. I also got the tip to check out Material Culture in Roxborough, and although it is a bit pricey I am excited to scouring their July 4th sale (which includes barbeque, yum!) next weekend.

If any yummy bites readers have any suggestions or inspiration, it would be greatly appreciated. I like every style, from rustic to modern, but the apartment we’re moving into is really a classic with beautiful molding, hardwood floors, and a big sunny space. We are going to have a dining room! For right now I am trying to focus on just getting moved there… and possibly splurging on some little new kitchen goodies from Anthropologie, like these adorable measuring cups:

So much to do! For right now, it’s time to make some French toast…
