Last weekend I spent my first in Ocean City, MD, unheard of for a girl who grew up in Baltimore. As a child my family always took summer vacations to the lovely shores of North Carolina’s Outer Banks. This weekend crabs and corn reigned supreme.

(Photo from our unlimited crabs and corn feast at The Crab Bag).
We also dined on some other Maryland favorites, which is basically everything Old Bay and Baltimore’s famous Berger cookies, the greatest cookies in the world (I’m eating one right now!)

One of my favorite MD treats this weekend was fresh, hot doughnuts from The Fractured Prune, one of Brett and Lindsay’s favorite OCMD stops. It’s a fresh doughnut shop where you design your own, starting fresh and warm, followed by glaze and whatever topping you want. I like doughnuts but I found out this weekend it’s possible to love them— when they’re maple glazed and topped with powdered sugar, to taste just like the best French toast ever. Or when they’re banana glazed and topped with peanuts and taste just like banana bread! Or whatever combination you please…

Yes, 4 of us ate all 12 of these. Quickly. But I ran 10 miles the next day so it was ok (and it would have been totally worth it regardless). I’d say OCMD was a blast, and I hope to return there many times in the future!
